Afrirent Auto is looking for Tail-Lift Technicians to perform services, maintenance and repairs on tail-lifts including solar panel systems in Afrirent’s Auto fleet.  This involves the provision of high-quality maintenance and repairs to minimise downtime and / or reduce accident risks thereby enabling Afrirent to fulfil its contractual obligations to its clients and meet stakeholder expectations.  The role also ensures compliance to general housekeeping and occupational health and safety (OHS) in the workshop

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducts maintenance and repairs to SA Tail-lift, Skyjacks, Palfinger, Dholandia tail-lift and column lifts as well as solar systems and ensures that tail-lifts are safe to use and that all defects have been repaired 
• Conducts all work to the highest quality of workmanship and standards  
• Checks and inspects all working components and cylinders  
• Repairs and rewires tail-lift wiring, control switches and lock out switches as well as solar panels 
• Conducts wiring of lights and basic electrical functions on truck, trailers and solar systems 
• Analyses and assesses problem areas to minimise the vehicles’ downtime 
• Conducts monthly service and system test on the close circuit hydraulic system 
• Responds to breakdowns and emergencies and carries out onsite repairs when necessary 
• Adheres to breakdown safety protocols 
• Completes and submits job cards for all work conducted  
• Implements safety standard operating procedures at all times to minimise the risk of further incidents / accidents 
• Identifies and makes proactive recommendations for preventative maintenance to tail-lift trailers  
• Escalates complex / unresolved repairs to the Workshop Foreman
• Reports on findings of routine checklist inspections  
• Compiles and submits reports on all vehicle incidents, breakdowns, accidents, repairs and services 
• Inspects breakdown vehicles to ensure that these are kept clean and that log sheets with breakdown registers are completed  
• Completes inspection procedure checklists 
• Implements effective and hygienic housekeeping activities at all times 
• Monitors and implements adherence to all safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) policies, procedures and requirements in the workshops 
• Implements consistent safety protocols and procedures
