Description

Job Purpose

The Fleet Pricing Specialist is responsible for developing accurate, competitive and commercially viable pricing models for fleet leasing, managed maintenance, fleet management, municipal and mobility solutions. The role analyses operational, financial and market data to produce pricing proposals that maximise profitability while remaining competitive and aligned with the organisation's strategic objectives.

The incumbent works closely with Business Development, Finance, Operations, Procurement, Maintenance, Risk, Fleet Management and Executive Management to ensure all pricing assumptions accurately reflect lifecycle costs, residual values, funding costs, maintenance expenditure, operational risks and contractual obligations.

1. Fleet Pricing & Cost Modelling

Develop pricing models for: Full Maintenance Leasing (FML)
Operating Lease
Fleet Management
Managed Maintenance
Municipal Fleet Contracts
Short-term Rental Solutions
Vehicle Subscription Solutions
Telematics Services
Calculate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
Develop lifecycle cost models
Build cost recovery models
Determine monthly lease rentals
Model maintenance reserves
Calculate tyre reserves
Develop fuel cost assumptions where applicable
Calculate insurance recoveries
Analyse depreciation assumptions
Determine residual value assumptions
Incorporate replacement cycles
Prepare pricing recommendations.

2. Financial Analysis

Analyse fleet operating costs.
Monitor cost drivers.
Analyse maintenance expenditure trends.
Evaluate workshop costs.
Assess vehicle utilisation.
Analyse downtime costs.
Evaluate funding costs.
Calculate internal rates of return.
Analyse gross margins.
Perform break-even analysis.
Conduct sensitivity analysis.
Evaluate inflation assumptions.
Analyse interest rate impacts.
Model profitability over contract lifecycles.

3. Tender & Bid Pricing

Prepare pricing schedules for tenders.
Develop commercial pricing models.
Verify bid assumptions.
Price municipal contracts.
Support bid submissions.
Prepare financial schedules.
Ensure compliance with tender requirements.
Participate in tender clarification meetings.
Assist in contract negotiations.
Provide pricing explanations to clients.

4. Market Intelligence

Monitor vehicle pricing trends.
Analyse OEM pricing.
Monitor maintenance cost trends.
Analyse competitor pricing.
Monitor inflation.
Analyse fuel price movements.
Monitor interest rate changes.
Review residual value trends.
Assess market competitiveness.
Recommend pricing improvements.

5. Commercial Risk Analysis

Identify pricing risks.
Evaluate contract risks.
Assess maintenance risks.
Analyse utilisation risks.
Assess vehicle replacement risks.
Evaluate funding risks.
Assess residual value exposure.
Analyse client credit implications.
Recommend mitigation strategies.

6. Data Analysis & Reporting

Develop pricing dashboards.
Produce profitability reports.
Generate pricing variance reports.
Analyse pricing performance.
Monitor contract profitability.
Produce management reports.
Present pricing recommendations.
Maintain pricing databases.
Ensure data integrity.

7. Stakeholder Management

Support Business Development with client pricing.
Liaise with Finance regarding funding assumptions.
Work with Procurement regarding vehicle costs.
Support Fleet Operations with maintenance assumptions.
Liaise with OEMs regarding pricing.
Assist Executive Management with commercial decision-making.
Support Tender Committees.

8. Governance & Compliance

Ensure pricing complies with company policies.
Maintain pricing documentation.
Ensure audit readiness.
Maintain pricing controls.
Protect confidential commercial information.
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
Support internal and external audits.

 

Education Requirements

Minimum 

Diploma (NQF level 6) in Business Administration / Transport / Fleet Management 

Ideal 

Degree (NQF level 7) in Business Administration / Transport / Fleet Management will be advantageous 
 

Experience

Experience

5–8 years' experience in:

Fleet Leasing
Fleet Management
Commercial Pricing
Financial Modelling
Cost Analysis
Asset Finance
Vehicle Lifecycle Costing
Experience in municipal fleet contracts will be advantageous.
Experience preparing commercial tenders and bids is highly advantageous.
