DEPARTMENT OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND LAND REFORM

Supplying agricultural equipment and machinery to 3 provinces

In order to deliver on its mission – to initiate, facilitate, coordinate, catalyse and implement an integrated rural development programme – the national Department of Rural Development and Land Reform tasked Afrirent Fleet Management to supply, deliver and maintain fleets of agricultural equipment and machinery to the Eastern Cape province, Limpopo and 2 districts in Kwazulu-Natal in October 2017.

Afrirent will, over a period of 3 years delivery and manage the agricultural equipment fleets across these 3 provinces. The 3 year contract includes a full, on-site maintenance agreements and warranties. Afrirent delivers the equipment directly to the beneficiary villages and co-operatives.

Also included in the deal is ongoing, in-field training of the rural farmers on the operation of the equipment and machinery.  The training is aimed at maximising the benefit that operating the equipment brings to rural farming communities to assist in ensuring that this part of integrated rural development results in farming activities that is sustainable and commercially viable / competitive.

Every vehicle, piece of equipment and machine (along with its location) is tagged with a fleet number to enable Afrirent and the rural communities to effectively control, manage and maintain the fleets. See the gallery below for a selection of photos of deliveries to a few of these communities.
