Amabhungane Article Regarding City of Johannesburg Fleet Contract

Sep 20, 2019 | Fleet Management, In The News

During the last quarter of 2018, Afrirent Holdings was appointment by the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) to supply non-specialised fleet. Since then, Afrirent has spent considerable time and effort responding to enquiries of Amabhungane, an independent and non-profit newsroom, regarding our capability to deliver on our contractual obligations to the CoJ and our contractual relationships with different service providers.

These contractual relationships have no bearing on the contract between the CoJ and Afrirent. We cooperated fully with Amabungane and answered all their questions.
It is noteworthy to mention that after Amabhungane published their first article in November 2018, the CoJ put everything on hold and CoJ commissioned two investigations, one legal another forensic.

Both investigations do not implicate Afrirent in any wrongdoing, and Afrirent is absolutely not guilty of any wrongdoing. Despite Afrirent’s responses to Amabhungane’s enquiries and the forensic and legal evidence in their possession, Amabhungane appears to have unilaterally concluded that Afrirent has
done something illegal which influenced its appointment by the CoJ.

We understand that Amabhungane intends to publish further article/s. Afrirent would like to assure its clients and stakeholders that during this time, we will remain focused on directing our efforts and energies towards fulfilling our commitment to providing all excellent service.

Sincerely,

Senzo Tsabedze
Chief Executive Officer
