In Johannesburg today, 20 December – Afrirent Holdings, a black-owned fleet management, logistics, energy, hospitality, gaming and leisure company – has, through its subsidiary Afrirent Fleet Management, delivered the latest tranche of fleet of vehicles for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) as part of its five-year fleet management contract with the City of Johannesburg.
“We are proud to deliver these vehicles for use by the JMPD at this critical period for law enforcement. More importantly, we are honoured to be entrusted with keeping Johannesburg, this world-class African city, moving to deliver various services to its residents,” says Thenjiwe Tsabedze, the CEO of Afrirent, which recently marked its 21st anniversary, having started with two trucks and a bold vision in leasing before branching into other areas.
Tsabedze says the contract involves the provision of various types of vehicles on a Full Maintenance Lease (FML) and fleet support services. This includes managed maintenance on the existing fleet.
The service is for all CoJ departments and municipal-owned entities (MOEs), such as Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), Johannesburg Water, City Power among others.
Tsabedze notes that a key strength of Afrirent’s ability to deliver on a contract of this scale, as well as for other municipalities and private sector clients, has been its relationship with leading vehicle manufacturers. “We have a solid and transparent relationship built on trust and mutual confidence with our partners,” says Tsabedze in reference to partnerships with the likes of Toyota South Africa, Isuzu South Africa, Mahindra South Africa, GWM and various other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
“These strong partnerships ensure that we are equipped to effectively manage and service our client’s fleet needs to the highest standards leveraging quality vehicles, ongoing support, and reliable maintenance solutions.”
Tsabedze, who runs the company alongside her husband and founder chairman Senzo Tsabedze, says Afrirent, a Level 1 BBBEE supplier, is one of the few black female-owned companies operating in this space within the vehicle leasing industry.
The company offers a spectrum of vehicle leasing services including vehicle tracking technology to track and monitor vehicle overall performance.
Tsabedze says the company aims to expand its fleet management capabilities by targeting private sector clientele and specialised services including security and Cash in Transit mobility.
“By leaning on our strong partnerships, commitment to service excellence, and focus on innovation, Afrirent is well-positioned to expand its footprint and set new benchmarks in the industry,” says Tsabedze.
