JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Conducts fault finding and investigations to diagnose repairs and maintenance requirements on trucks and trailers
• Analyses causes of faults, requests quotes and submits for pre-approval
• Services and repairs UD290/440, Quan series, Mercedes Actros and Axor trucks and trailers accurately and with the highest levels of quality
• Replaces vehicles’ engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms and braking systems
• Test drives repaired vehicles to ensure that the repairs were effectively and correctly carried out
• Responds to breakdowns and emergencies and carries out onsite repairs when necessary
• Adheres to breakdown safety protocols
• Implements safety standard operating procedures at all times to minimise the risk of further incidents / accidents
• Attends to certificate of fitness (COF) defects on vehicles
• Conducts brake tests on completion of all brake overhauls
• Performs preventative maintenance on service trucks
• Conducts strict inspection checklist procedures and maintains accurate paperwork and documentation
• Completes and submits job cards for all work conducted
• Identifies and makes proactive recommendations for preventative maintenance of vehicles to prevent major breakdowns of vehicles
• Maintains optimum stock levels of parts, tools and equipment
• Escalates complex / unresolved repairs to the Workshop Foreman
