Our CompaniesTsabedze Foundation

Afrirent and its Shareholders fully subscribe to transformation and democratization of the economy of our country to correct and redress the stifling effects of the past and we see economic reform as the foundation of a successful nation. Afrirent is confident that we have the resourcefulness and commitment from our Board of Directors and its shareholders to fulfil our B-BBEE requirements. Afrirent is currently a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor and continues to strive for improvements.

Our commitment to communities is underpinned by our management approach and our drive for sustainability.  Our Values-based approach ensures that through our shareholders and stakeholders, Afrirent moves beyond the conventional approach of trade-offs between stakeholders and searches for solutions which add value for all over time.   Corporate Social Investment (CSI) activities began as far back as the early 2000’s where we continue to help in creating a more just and equitable socio-economic dispensation.

At a group level, CSI is viewed as an investment in the future – in our people around the world and their various communities – and the environmental sustainability of the planet.  It is one of several mechanisms we use to build enduring relationships and enhance our business value propositions. In the course of our business, through extensive, on-going interactions, Afrirent engages with a wide range of stakeholders to understand their interests and concerns and construct its value propositions.  We strive to be responsive to the needs of the communities in which we do business.

Tsabedze Foundation

Apart from our extensive and successful internal skills development programmes which empower employees in an active continuous learning environment, we actively participate in Corporate Social Investment projects, specifically in the communities around our current and new investment footprint.

Afrirent manages its own Social Investment initiative known as the Tsabedze Foundation. The Foundation was started in May 2020 to help previously disadvantaged individuals as well as those in dire need of essential social and educational services.

Founded on the principles of caring and Ubuntu the foundation funds amongst other things food, clothing, and medicine to the neediest in South Africa. Tsabedze Foundation strives to both uplift the belief people have in themselves that “anything in life is possible as long as you believe in yourself”, but also to restore the dignity they once had or wish to have in future as a result.

The company’s social responsibility program focuses on assistance to education, environment and welfare initiatives with specific emphasis on:

  • Institutions who are non-racial, nonsexist and non-denominational
  • Institutions involved with children with learning disabilities and the physically challenged
  • Welfare organizations caring for orphans and the destitute
  • Aids awareness

Over and above its current initiatives the Tsabedze Foundation is continuously seeking donor funding to further its efforts to reach more individuals who are desperately in need of this social support.

In this regard the Tsabedze Foundation also urges all SOE’s and Municipalities to join hands with it and other Social Investment Companies to make a lasting difference in the lives of all the less fortunate in South Africa.

Below is the list of the current Social Responsibility programmes that have had an impact in the community. These projects are in line with our strategy and were delivered through the Tsabedze Foundation.

In addition to what is provided by the Tsabedze Foundation, Afrirent gets involved with the communities directly as per the example below.

We recently joined forces with Global Roofing Solutions and the Hicks-Roche, Brown/Moyes and Gibson families to fund a “Raise the Roof” roofing initiative at Jabulani Primary School bordering the Kruger National Park with the Uplands Outreach programme.

Educating University Learners

The Tsabedze Foundation values education as part of giving back to society through charitable contributions and donations by the company. This includes monetary donations, volunteer work, and other types of community involvement aimed at making a positive impact on society.
In the case of educating 10 learners at university, The Tsabedze Foundation’s corporate philanthropic effort involves providing scholarships or grants to students who do not have the financial means to attend university. This type of philanthropy not only benefits the individual students but also contributes to the overall advancement of education and helps to create a more educated workforce.

In addition to providing financial support, The Tsabedze Foundation also gets to build partnerships with universities to offer mentorship programs, internships, and other opportunities to help students gain real-world experience and develop skills that will help them succeed in their careers.

Overall, The Tsabedze Foundation’s corporate philanthropy is an important way for the staff and employees to give back to the community and make a positive impact on society. By investing in education, companies can help to create a more educated and skilled workforce, which in turn can contribute to economic growth and social development.
